    Hello, all! :)
Just heard about the name change - that change being that it is "Praey" instead of "Prey". Not to speculate, but one would naturally assume that it was to do with the release of the game Prey, which would suck if true. On the new name, I'm not really sure how to feel about it. In my personal opinion, it'd have been better to go for Pray for the Gods as it would insinuate that the threat of the player warranted a prayer for the gods, but it would also play on the original title of "Prey". Something else entirely would have probably worked better to be honest. Praey is sort of devoid of any meaning and looks like a typo at first glance. But that's just my opinion and people can will probably disagree with me on this. Looking forward to other people's thoughts on this :D I hope this is the right place for this post

I also got the impression it was a typo at first. But it doesn't really bother me.

They explained why they had to change their name in the latest newsletter, and yes, it does have to do with Bethesda's Prey.

The whole point is the homophones "Prey" and "Pray". "Prey for the Gods" implies you are at the disadvantage, "Pray for the Gods" sounds like a First Person Shooter. Thinking about it that FPS is Painkiller.

It really sucks that they got cornered into doing this just for using the word Prey. It's not fair that a small company can be intimidated by a massive company into not doing something that is completely fine.

Bethesda can't put out a decent game anymore, they should be willfully ignored..

Ost is right, it was always meant to hug that line of ambiguity, to worship but to also be hunted. I think that it was summed up perfectly with the Prey emblem, an evident "e" but in the position of Ase praying.

So the change isn't the worst, though the circumstances around it are frustrating.

i am not an native English speaker, but i dont mind the name change, its the game im interested in (dont really care what its called in the end).
pray, prey or Praey somehow that last one makes it more mysterious and gives it an older feel.
    so i think it fits.

It was a bit unfortunate, but in the end it's just a name.

I thought it a typo originally but that is fine. As far as Bethesda, I don't blame them. Trademark means they HAVE to oppose or weaken the trademark. Tis is more of an issue with how trademark laws are written rather than Beth being jerks.

I like your attitudes on the matter, Shima and Zak. Essentially it's the same game. The branding is just a little different.

Before calling the game "Praey for the gods" just know that there's a letter for that in scandinavian languages, the Æ. So it could be "Præy for the gods" or "PRÆY FOR THE GODS" (if its gonna be caps). Looks smoother than ae, looks unique for a game title.

But well, then again 90% of gamers wouldn't know how to type that...huh...forget what I said, I guess?

They actually thought of that, but ran into 2 issues. First was that it was too hard to Google (not many people can even type that diphthong without Googling it), and second was that Bethesda blocked that too.

Really? That surprises me. But when you aren't big, you have to pick your battles. Besides, makes for more chances to improvise something better.

    Finally got around to it:

"Thank you for supporting Praey for the Gods Backer Plus! To access your purchase, just go to this download page:"

    and...

    "Greetings,

We are writing to inform you that we have processed the deletion of your The Elder Scrolls Online account."

Thank you Bethesda. One interesting game (that I hadn't heard of until the bethesda trademark crap) backed, one boring MMO account deleted.

That's a hell of a bit of support, Torp. Thank you for the backing!

Please don't feel like you have to disassociate yourself from ZeniMax. We might not agree with their decision, but we don't want you to feel pressured to choose sides.

We're just happy that you think well of us.

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, I wasn't really playing ESO. I bought it on a steam sale and found it extremely boring. Bethesda managed to lose me as a customer a while before this trademark incident (first game of theirs I didn't buy is Fallout 4), but this prompted me to actually speak to them and express my displeasure.
